WELCOME TO PAPATOETOE NORTH SCHOOL
A warm welcome to the 2009 academic year. A special greeting to the families who are new to the school and to pupils, who are starting school for the first time. We are delighted your child has joined our school community.
During the time that your children are attending Papatoetoe North Primary School they will:
- be supported, encouraged and challenged to achieve academic excellence;
- further develop their self esteem and enjoy high quality relationships with everyone;
- be learning in an inclusive and culturally accepting community with a safe environment.
The Education Review Office describes the school as a dynamic learning organization. We are well recognized for the quality of our academic programmes, the high standards of the pupils’ performance, the commitment of the teaching faculty and the support we receive from the community.
It is essential, in the first four years, that pupils develop a sound base in English and Mathematics. Our aim is that by years five and six all children will be independent writers and spellers, reading close to, or better than, their chronological age and have mastered level three in numeration. These pupils will then focus on applying and extending curriculum knowledge, attitudes and skills in all the National Curriculum areas, and be well prepared for intermediate school.
Teachers strive to develop a school where children are secure, happy and purposeful, and where they are motivated to give of their best. High standards are set in all that is undertaken, and our goal is that all children will work towards achieving personal excellence.
Parental support and co-operation is important in working towards these goals. We encourage parental involvement and open communication between home and school. The education of our children is a team effort.
